Name that creative format

Pop quiz: match the following five creative inputs to the correct format. (hint: they are not in the right order)

One of the most common creative registration mistakes is users choosing a format that doesn’t match their actual asset. The result is a creative that doesn’t work, a support case, and lost time and spend.

When we introduced the new creative registration UI in 2017 we included a list of format-based templates to chose before proceeding to the next step. You let us know this was a challenging step in the process. We listened.

The vast majority of users aren’t picking custom templates so we made template selection optional. Instead of using the template selector a user registering a banner simply drops in their file or pastes their tag into the input field. Voila! We recognize the format and assign the right standard template. The UI will tell you what format we recognized so if you think we’re wrong you can still manually select the correct template and format. We've tested a lot of assets and don't expect to be wrong, but we want to leave you that option.

Since release, less than 1 percent of users have switched back to the manual template selector. That translates to over 25,000 saved clicks per week! Time to complete an average banner upload has dropped and we expect support cases to drop as well.

But that’s not all. The second most common piece of feedback we received since we introduced the new registration UI is that it’s not fast enough. Thanks to some browser wizardry from a lead UI engineer on the Creative team, the new UI loads up to 3x faster than before.

Both of these improvements are now available to all Console and APP clients.

We'd love to hear any feedback you have on this release and the AppNexus creative management workflow in general in the #creatives channel of the AppNexus Traders Slack Group.

Also, if you've made it this far, the answers to the pop quiz are: 1-d, 2-e, 3-a, 4-b, 5-c.
